Seymour Steinbigle professionally known as Seymour Stein was an American entrepreneur and music executive best known for being the co-founder of Sire Records and was vice president of Warner Bros Records. In 1966 he founded Sire Productions with Gottehrer which led to the formation of Sire Records. The company first focused on licensing British and European songs for American release but later focused on checking new acts in the New York Clubs. He is responsible for signings which include the Talking Heads, Richard Hell & the Voidoids, the Pretenders in 1980 and Madonna. Stein was the president of Sire Records as well as vice president of Warner Bros. Records until his retirement in 2018. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, under the lifetime-achievement category in 2005 and the Richmond Hitmaker Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2016.
