There are many different ways you can use our services-to share information, to communicate with other people or to create new content. This Privacy Policy describes Obitt's policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of your information. Obitt receives your information through our web site, APIs, applications, services and third-parties ("Services"). When using any of our Services you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure and other uses of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. Irrespective of which country that you reside in or create information from, your information may be used by Obitt in any other country where Obitt operates. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any websites, products or services that are not owned or operated by Obitt or to actions taken by Obitt users. For example, this Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party applications that are available through Obitt or to any social networks service providers that you associate with your Obitt account, all of which are governed by their own privacy policies.
Personally identifiable information- Personally identifiable information is information that can be used to determine your personal identity, such as your name or email address. When you create an account we ask for your name and email address. If you link your third-party social network accounts to your Obitt account, we may also collect your user name for that account, which is also considered personally identifiable information.
Optional profile data- Obitt gives you the opportunity to update your public profile with information about yourself such as your photos, your website and a short biography. This information is public as described under "What is public and what is private?"
Information from the accounts you link to Obitt If you connect your Obitt account to your third-party social network accounts (e.g., Facebook and Google), they may send us information about you, including your name, username at those services, Unique User ID ("UUID") for those services, friends list, status, profile information, age and gender.
Demographic data- At registration we may collect additional demographic information about you, such as your location and interests. Obitt may receive this information from you or from your activities within Obitt like friends, photos and comments you post, or we may make assumptions based on the other information that we collect.
Log data- When you use our services or view content provided by Obitt, we may automatically collect and store certain information in server logs. This may include:
(i) Details of how you used our service, such as your search queries.
(ii) Internet Protocol Address (IP address).
(iii) Device event information such as crashes, system activity, hardware settings, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and referral URL.
(iv) Cookies that may uniquely identify your browser or your Obitt Account.
Sharing- We retain information about the Obitt pages, photos, files, or other data that you share through the sharing functionality of Obitt. This information is associated with your Obitt account. Your information also includes the information you choose to share on Obitt, such as when you post a contribution , upload a photo, or comment on Obit contributions post. It also includes the information you choose to share when you take an action, such as when you follow a friend, like an Obit or tag a place in your post.
Your communications- Obitt offers users various communication tools, including instant messaging. For more information about Obitt's collection and storage of your communications see "Obitt's communications platforms."
Email address of friends you invite If you use the Obitt feature that allows you to invite friends to use Obitt, we will ask for your friend's email address but we will only use it to send them the invitation.
Obitt values your privacy and as such encourage you to make the most of the control and account settings that we have put in place to allow you to share with your desired audience. People have different privacy concerns. Our goal is to be clear about what information we collect, so that you can make meaningful choices about how it is used. For example, you can:
(a) Review and control certain types of information tied to your Obitt account by using Obitt account settings.
(b) Edit your ads preferences, such as which categories might interest you.
(c) Control who you share information with.
You may also set your browser to block all cookies, including cookies associated with our services, or to indicate when a cookie is being set by us. However, it's important to remember that many of our services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled. For example, we may not remember your language preferences.
Obitt profiles are designed to be public in order to allow people with similar interests to find each other and share their interests. This section describes which information is public. Public information is available to everyone on the Internet and can be viewed, copied, indexed, transferred and searched.
(a)Your profile-Your Obitt public profile and all of the information on it, including your picture, mutual friends (with other Obitt users searching for you within Obitt) and some of your comments and the people you follow and who follow you on Obitt, are all public.
Your username will also be part of your public profile URL (your Obitt profile web address) and will also be displayed to users you follow. Because of the way the Internet works, when you or other users click on a link from your public profile page, the website that you go to or the advertisements that you click on will also receive the URL that you are coming from, which includes your user name (known as the "referrer URL").
(b) Your activity on Obitt. This includes your contributions to Obits, sharing, comments and likes.
The following information is not made available as part of your public profile or otherwise made public by Obitt:
(i) your age and gender
(ii) your email address
(iii) your third-party social network account user names
(iv) your third-party social network friends
(v) your chat communications
(vi) your log data
Obitt offers users the ability to communicate with each other through chat messages. Never disclose personal information about yourself in a public area like Obit contibution post or in a private chat message unless it's someone you know well in the real world.
Your preferences are also automatically set to store your chat messages history on Obitt's servers. You can view or delete your chat history by clicking on the chat history delete icon in your chat window.
Keep in mind that even if you elect not to store your chat history, the person that you're chatting with may be storing your conversation, either on Obitt, on their chat network's servers or on their own computers. By using Obitt, you consent to the storage of your chat history on Obitt as the default option and to the storing of your chat history by other users with whom you are chatting or by the Third Party Chat Service that you or your friend is using.
Like many websites, we use "cookie" technology to collect additional website usage data and to improve our Services, but we do not require cookies for many parts of our Services such as searching and looking at user and obit profiles. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer's hard disk. Obitt may use both session cookies and persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with our Services, to monitor aggregate usage by our users and web traffic routing on our Services, and to improve our Services. Most Internet browsers automatically accept cookies. You can instruct your browser, by editing its options, to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from the websites you visit.
Obitt allows third parties who have entered into an agreement with us to make their applications available through Obitt. Obitt may provide these third-parties with information that is part of your public profile, as described under "What is public and what is private". Obitt requires that these third parties only use this information to provide their applications to you and that they not disclose it to any third party without your consent.
In addition, some of the applications may collect personally identifiable information from you directly. In that case, any information that you provide through the application will be governed by the application owner's privacy policy, which you should review. Each application owner will be solely responsible for complying with its privacy policy.
If we propose to use personal information for any purpose other than those described in this Privacy Policy and/or in the specific service privacy notices, we will offer you an effective way to opt out.
Usage of information.
Obitt uses the information it collects:
* To provide you with access to your account;
* To provide you with the Obitt services;
* To enhance and improve the Obitt services;
* To recommend to you or other Obitt users potential friends or websites that may be of interest;
* To recommend to you obit profiles or websites that may be of interest;
* To provide customized advertising to you;
* To conduct research;
* To determine your geographic location or other demographic information about you;
* To create reports and to analyze usage patterns; and
* To contact you as described under "Emails and other notifications."
Sharing of information
Obitt may share your non-public personally identifiable information with third parties only in the following cases:
* Third parties you opt in: We may need to share your log-in information with the third-party social networks applications where you have an account that you have chosen to access through Obitt in order to permit you to log onto and use that service;
* Your Consent: We may share or disclose your information with your consent, such as when you use a third party web client or application to access your Obitt account.
* Service Providers: We engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us. We may share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these functions and provide such services, and only pursuant to obligations mirroring the protections of this privacy policy.
* Law and Harm: We may preserve or disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Obitt's rights or property.
* Business Transfers: In the event that Obitt is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The promises in this privacy policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.
* Non-Private or Non-Personal Information: We may share or disclose your non-private, aggregated or otherwise non-personal information, such as your obit contributions or the number of users who clicked on a particular link (even if only one did).
* Obit administrators: If you clip. contribute or like an obit profile (public or private) managed for you by a obit administrator then the obit administrator will have limited access to your Obitt account information. The obit administrator may be able to:
- View statistics regarding your account, like statistics regarding active participation within the obit.
- delete your contribution to the obit.
- Suspend or terminate your account access to the obit.
- Access or retain information stored as part of your account within the obit.
- Receive your account information in order to satisfy applicable laws, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental requests within the obit.
Obitt may share your public information or any anonymous information for any of the purposes described under "Usage of information."
This Privacy Statement only addresses the use and disclosure of information by Obitt through your interaction with the Site. Other websites that may be accessible through links from our Sites may have their own privacy statements and personal information collection, use, and disclosure practices. Our business partners may have their own privacy statements, too. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the privacy statements provided by these other parties prior to providing them with information or taking advantage of an offer or promotion.
We work hard to protect Obitt and our users from unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of information we hold. In particular: * We encrypt many of our services using SSL.
* We offer you login verification when you access your Obitt Account.
* We review our information collection, storage and processing practices, including physical security measures, to guard against unauthorized access to systems.
We restrict access to personal information to Obitt employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to process it for us, and who are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations and may be disciplined or terminated if they fail to meet these obligations.
Obitt will send you emails about your check-in and profile activity, such as when someone follows you or make contributions or like your contributions. You can adjust these account settings by logging into your Obitt account and clicking on "Settings."
Obitt reserves the right to send you communications relating to your account and the Obitt services. You can elect not to receive certain marketing messages from Obitt by email, but you cannot elect not to receive administrative messages relating to your account or legal matters. You consent to receiving all legally-required notifications from Obitt through display on Obitt, through the email associated with your Obitt account or the email associated with any of your third-party social networks through which you connect to Obitt (such as Facebook).
Our Privacy Policy applies to all of the services offered by Obitt and its affiliates. Our Privacy Policy does not apply to services offered by other companies or individuals, including products or sites that may be displayed to you in search results, sites that may include Obitt services, or other sites linked from our services. Our Privacy Policy does not cover the information practices of other companies and organizations who advertise on our services, and who may use cookies, pixel tags and other technologies to serve and offer relevant ads.
We regularly review our compliance with our Privacy Policy. We also adhere to several Obitt Principles. When we receive formal written complaints, we will contact the person who made the complaint to follow up. We work with the appropriate regulatory authorities to resolve any complaints regarding the transfer of personal data that we cannot resolve with our users directly.
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of the policy will govern our use of your information and will always be at . If we make a change to this policy that, in our sole discretion, is material, we will notify you via a wall post update or e-mail to the email associated with your account. By continuing to access or use the Services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
You can edit certain personal information or contribution that you have provided or request that your account be deleted by logging into your Obitt account and accessing your "activity" or account settings. Information that was already publicly shared, such as your comments or obits that you clipped or liked, and contributions that you previously posted will still be visible in the various places that information is displayed.
Deleting your Obitt account does not currently automatically remove your personally identifiable information from the Obitt servers. However, if you delete your account, we will use your personally identifiable information only to investigate abuse and comply with legal requests as described under "Information usage and sharing." If you would like to have your personally identifiable information deleted, please contact us as provided under "Comments and Questions."
Our Services are not directed to people under 13. If you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at privacy@obitt.co Send Mail. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 to create an Obitt account or to make obit contributions. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child's account.
Obitt periodically reviews its privacy practices and this privacy policy. We encourage interested persons to raise any concerns using the contact information provided below and we will investigate and attempt to resolve any concerns or complaints.
