Rosa Anna Katharina Mittermaier-Neureuther was a German alpine skier famous for winning two gold medals and one silver at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, becoming a hugely popular figure in her country. After her overall World Cup champion status in 1976, Mittermaier retired at age 25. She joined International Management Group, a well-known sports and entertainment agency. She also designed winter sports clothing and made international appearances for ski products. Mittermaier made television appearances as a commentator for major sports events on German television and created a foundation to aid children with rheumatism. She won numerous awards during her career including the 2007 Bavarian Order of Merit and the 1976 German Sportswoman of the Year.
