Christian Atsu Twasam was a Ghanaian professional footballer known for playing as a winger, attacking midfielder or left back in the English Premier League for Chelsea, Bournemouth, Everton and Newcastle.

Atsu started his career in football playing for Porto in 2011 at age 17. In 2013, he was signed by Chelsea for £3.5 million and later loaned to to Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, AFC Bournemouth and Málaga. In 2017 he was officially transfered to Newcastle United after being loaned to them for the 2016-17 season. After his four year contract ended he moved to play for Al Raed in Saudi Arabia and Hatayspor in Turkey, where he died in the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake. Atsu also made international appearances playing for Ghana 65 times scoring nine (9) goals. He also made 249 club appearances and scored 23 goals. Atsu was a devout Christian who was active in charity. He was an ambassador for Arms Around the Child, an organization supporting disadvantaged children and was known to pay thousands of pounds of bail money to free Ghanaians who had been jailed for stealing food.
