as one of the finest players of his generation. Charlton's football journey began at Manchester United's youth system in 1953 and made his first-team debut in 1956. At Manchester United, Charlton became
an integral part of the team, helping the club win numerous cups. He was known for his exceptional
dribbling skills, vision, and passing ability. However in 1958, tragedy struck when an airplane carrying
the Manchester United team crashed in Munich, claiming the lives of several players. Charlton, who
miraculously survived the disaster, returned to the field, leading United to the club's first European Cup victory in 1968. Charlton played for England from 1958 to 1970, He scored 21 goals in 106 appearances
for England, making him the country's third-highest scorer of all time. Charlton received numerous
accolades, including the prestigious FIFA World Cup Golden Ball and the Ballon d'Or. He was knighted in 1994 for his services to football and was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire
