Tyrone Downie was a Jamaican keyboardist and pianist best known for his involvement as a member of the Bob Marley and The Wailers. Born in Kingston Jamaica, he attended the Kingston College and his first recording debut was with the Wailers in 1970. He released his single My Jamaican in 1983 and a solo album in 2001 Organ D. He played more than just one instrument including the organ, synthesizers, mellotron and a Rhodes piano as well. As he was residing In France, he was also a member of the touring band of Youssou N’Dour whose album Remember he produced. Downie played keyboards on the album Maroon Songs: Born Free, Live Free, Ever free with Earl Chinna Smith’s InnadeYard Binghistra Movement, released on August 17, 2022. Downie died at the age of 66, in Kingston, Jamaica.
