    Ricou Browning was an American film director, actor, producer, screenwriter, underwater cinematographer, and stuntman best known for his role as the creature from the Black Lagoon. As a teenager, Browning began working with swimming coach and promoter Newt Perry. He served in the U.S Airforce before he pursued a career in acting and studied physical education at Florida State.
