Michael Terrence Holland was an American college athletics administrator and basketball player and coach best known for serving as East Carolina University’s athletic director from 2004 until his retirement in 2013. Holland attended Davidson College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics in 1964. He played basketball for the university and during his senior year he became the captain of the first nationally ranked basketball team in Wildcat history. After graduating he stayed behind and was eventually offered the position of assistant couch but was promoted years later to become the head couch. In 1974 Holland moved to the University of Virginia to coach there but left in 1990. He returned to Davidson College to become the athletic director at Davidson from 1990 to 1994 where he achieved a lot of success like helping to modernize Davidson's athletics strategy. He later moved to Virginia from 1994 to 2001, and at East Carolina from 2004 to 2013 to serve as the athletic director from both schools. Hollard was also a television analyst, working for ESPN and the ACC Television Network from 1990 to 1996. He was inducted into the ESPN in 2003.
