Julie Powell nee Foster was an American author. She was born in Austin, Texas to her parents John Landrum and Kay Elaine. Powell attended the Amherst College doing a double major in theatre and creative writing in 1995. The book was published in 2005 titled the Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, the paperback edition was retitled Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously.
Powell was awarded an Honorary diploma from Le Cordon Bleu, in 1951, her book was turned into film, and it was released on August 7, 2009, although it also incooperated the Julia Child’s autobiography. Her second book she wrote about her experiences learning to butcher, and the effects of affairs both her and her husband on their marriage. The book was titled Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession, and it was published on November 30, 2009, although Powell wrote the book people gave negative reviews due to her openness regarding her affairs. Powell was married to Eric Powell in 1998, she died at the age of 49, due to a cardiac arrest in her home in New York.
