David Perry Lindley was an American musician and multi-instrumentalist founder of the rock band El Rayo-X best known for working with many other performers such as Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Curtis Mayfield and Dolly Parton. He co-founded the psychedelic band Kaleidoscope which released four albums on Epic Records. After the band broke up he went to England and played in Terry Reid's until he started playing with Jackson Browne in 1972. After years of playing with various bands Lindley formed his own band El Rayo-X. He released a studio album with them and by 1990 the band had disbanded and Lindley pursued a career as a solo artist where he performed with numerous artist. He was rumored to be able to play string instruments such as the violin, acoustic and electric guitar, upright and electric bass, banjo, mandolin, dobro, hardingfele, bouzouki, cittern, bağlama, gumbus, charango, cümbüş, oud and zither.
