Michael John Gerson was an American journalist and speechwriter, he was described by The New York Times as President George W Bush's Chief speechwriter and closest adviser who composed many of the President's signature addresses and wielded outzised influence on his domestic and foreign policy. Gerson was born in Belmar, New Jersey. He attended Georgetown University and a year in, he transferred to Wheaton College. He first worked at The Heritage Foundation, a conservative public policy research institution, and as an aid to Indiana Senator Dan Coats. He was also a speech writer for the presidential campaign of Bob Dole.
In 1999 he joined the Bush campaign, he ended up serving in the Bush administration as his chief speechwriter and senior policy advisor from 2001 up to 2006. He also published two books.
