Lynn Seymour born Berta Lynn Springbett was a Canadian-born ballerina, mostly associated with the Royal Ballet in London and considered one of the greatest and dramatic ballerinas of the 20th century who inspired new works from Kenneth MacMillan and Frederick Ashton. Seymour studied ballet in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1953 she was given given a scholarship to London's Sadler's Wells Ballet School and in 1956 she joined Covent Garden Opera Ballet but moved a year later to the Touring Royal Ballet. In 1958 she joined the Royal Ballet and became a principal dancer in 1959. Her most critically acclaimed lead roles were in three of MacMillan’s acclaimed multi-act ballets, Romeo and Juliet in 1965, Anastasia (1967, 1971) and Mayerling in 1978. Seymour starred in many productions that awarded her with international fame she even directed the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich and also served as a choreographer. She retired from the Royal Ballet in 1981. After her retirement she appeared in several television shows including The Little Vampire.
