LaTisha Simeone Chong was a well known impactful, black celebrity hair stylist who styled for Vogue and in her career styled for Serena Williams on her Vogue cover and Tracee Ellis Ross amongst other celebrities. Her work was versatile and spanned several sectors, including fashion spreads, editorials and brand campaigns. Born in Trinidad and Tobago to a hair stylists mother, Chong watched and learned the trade from her mother who was her source of inspiration. She moved to the United States at age 6 with her family. Chong's first career after high school was in the military where she enlisted in the US air force when she was 19. She had an honorary discharge in 2014 after being diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer and was discovered to also had Hodgkin's Lymphoma two weeks after the initial diagnostics of breast cancer. Her discharge came after a long battle with cancer which she won.
After her discharge she went back into styling working for Michelle Jones and before long her talents were noticed and pivoted her to the top of the styling industry. She is one of the influences that has shaped the beauty industry. Unfortunately Chong passed away at the age of 32 following a battle with breast cancer
