Open in 1977, and his last was at the Byron Nelson Golf Classic in 1986. During those years he was
ranked in the top 7 and spent several weeks ranked in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings in
1986 and 1987. When he turned 50 he became a member of the Champions Tour competing with other
exceptional players, he continued to excel and make significant contributions to the sport. Bean was
also committed to giving back to the sport by participating in charitable initiatives and using his
platform to support causes close to his heart, becoming an advocate for positive change. Bean was
inducted into University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame as a "Gator Great" in 1978 and into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
