He was often described as the Master of Total Recall. Lorayne embarked on his magic career in the 1940s, at age 18 he began to perform as a table magician at Billy Reed's Little Club. After that he began his professional life as a sleight-of-hand artist and well into old age was considered one of the foremost card magicians in the United States. His first big break was in 1958, when he appeared on the TV game show I’ve Got a Secret. He dazzled audiences with his memory skills and from then on he appeared on several television shows including The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson where he appeared 24 times. Over the years, Lorayne said, he had met and recalled the names of more than 20 million people. He traveled the country demonstrating his prowess on theater stages, at trade shows and in corporate training seminars. During the 1960s, he ran a memory-training school in New York. He authored several books including Before I forget, How to Develop a Super Power Memory, Miracle Math and Ageless Memory which were translated into many languages.
