Boseman’s formidable acting techniques made him to be more than an actor/ artist but an icon of culture and true-fighter for many.
Chadwick always had an affinity for theatre, and started his career in writing and directing his first play Crossroads in high school. A South Carolina native, Boseman attended Howard University, a historically Black college in Washington, DC and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fine arts. While there, he also attended the British American Drama Academy at Oxford in 1998. Boseman stated that early on in his career in 2003 he portrayed Reggie Montgomery in the daytime soap opera All My Children and was fired after voicing concerns to producers about racist stereotypes in the script.
Boseman's breakout performance came in 2013 when he played Jackie Robinson in the film "42." and later went on to portray James Brown in Get on Up (2014) and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017). Boseman made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2016 as King T'Challa/ Black Panther in "Captain America: Civil War. Black Panther, the first black Marvel superhero which focused on the character and his home country of Wakanda in Africa then got his own stand-alone movie that released in 2018, which broke box office records. He reprised the role in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, which were released in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Both films were the highest grossing of the year they were released, with Endgame going on to become the highest-grossing film of all time.
His role as the superhero Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including Black Panther (2018), made him an international star, winning him an NAACP Image Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Boseman dated singer Taylor Simone Ledward in 2015 and the two reportedly got engaged by October 2019, and they later married in secret. Boseman was raised a Christian and his former pastor said that he still kept his faith.
