Burnett "Burny" Mattinson was an American animator, director, producer, and story artist best known for his 70 year career at Walt Disney Animation Studios, where he had been employed since 1953. Before he was six, Mattinson's mother took him to San Francisco Orpheum Theatre to see Pinocchio and that sparked his interest in pursuing animation. He began practicing to draw until after high school when he went to Disney to look for a job which he got. He started working in the mail room and six months later he worked as an in-betweener on Lady and the Tramp even though he had no formal training whatsoever. Mattinson went on to work on numerous successful projects for Disney like Sleeping Beauty, Hundred and One Dalmatians and Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color television series. He also worked on The Sword in the Stone, Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, and The Aristocats just to name a few. In 2008 he was named a Disney Legend.
