David Jude Jolicoeur also known as Trugoy the Dove was an American rapper, producer, and one third of the hip hop group De La Soul, a group credited for being one of the most influential hip-hop artists of the 1980s and 1990s to produce music in the genre that reflected a gentler tone. The following year the group released their debut album 3 Feet High and Rising. The single on the album titled Me, Myself and I spent 17 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Over the course of their performing career, De La Soul released eight albums and was nominated for six Grammy Awards, winning one for best pop collaboration with vocals for Feel Good Inc in 2006. Their first album 3 Feet High and Rising was added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for its historic significance in 2010.
