Jean Paré born Jean Shirley Elford was a Canadian caterer, author of the Company's Coming cookbook series, and founder of Company's Coming Publishing Limited. She was known for her easy to follow recipes that propelled her to become one of the world's top cook book authors publishing over 200 cook books during her career. She was forced to provide for her children so she got a $1000 loan from the bank and opened a small cafe in Vermilion. She met her second husband at her cafe.
Paré was also a caterer in her home town of Vermilion where her clients would ask for her recipes which led her to write and publish her first cook book at the age of 53. She sold more than 30million copies of her cook books before she retired in 2011.
